We are a society of rapid results. We want fast food, fast cars, fast money — bigger better faster. When it pertains to habits, however, rapid results usually equals rapid failure. Most people’s goals are aimed at getting to a place or arriving at a particular point. In other words, they are destination-focused. Toss the journey out the door and how can we get the result the fastest? People say, “Oh, once I arrive at the perfect ‘x,’ the perfect ‘y,’ or the perfect ‘z’ everything will be better and I will be happy.” What we have to realize is that the journey is the destination. A constant continuance, an ever-arriving. The journey never ends so the destination is constantly transforming.
When I first embarked on the road of health I had no idea I would one day be considering eating a 100% raw diet filled with greens, berries, nuts seeds, and veggies. Little did I know of the awe-inspiring world of healthy food and healthy lifestyle that awaited me. Durian, say what?! But the journey continues, you see. I’m sure there will be further nuances to unfold once on the raw diet. There always are and there always will be nuances. That’s why life is so exciting — it’s one giant exploration. And we thought exploration was just for our forefathers. Columbus ain’t got nothin’ on the 21st century, am I right!?
Once you accept that you are always arriving, always journeying, and always learning you realize that mastering your habits and becoming a person who does what they say they will do when they say they will do it needs an entirely different approach altogether. It’s an approach of the road less traveled. While people are jumping on the road to get rich quick and still others are killing themselves to lose 30lbs in a week, there are some playing the game of the tortoise and the snail. Take your pick and be thankful that we at least don’t have to move as slow as the sloth to master our habits. What we need is a gentler approach where we are kind and loving to ourselves, where we commit to being consistent, and where we make observations based on facts and adjust accordingly.
I can say with complete confidence the “fast food” approach to accomplishing goals is a quick flicker of light in the dark at best. Be more like the tortoise and the snail. Take “The Graceful Approach” …more on that later 😉

To you, your health, and all that wealth.
Love,
Chrysalis
